What has most influenced how you see nursing? When I was younger, I spent a majority of my time within hospitals in the Washington DC area due to a condition ! have where I was born with three kidneys. I had several issues and I was always meeting with a new specialist and before every meeting, I would also meet new nurses who would always be encouraging and hold my hand through every procedure. It was growing up around these nurses that encouraged me and cared for me throughout my younger years besides my parents. I saw these nurses almost as superheroes because of how they cared for patients and how they did everything within their power to make sure their patients were okay. This influenced me in so many ways to not only respect nurses but also become a nurse. How do you react to shows that have nurses on them? When I watch shows that have nurses on them. I don't always find them to be quite accurate. There are shows like Grey's Anatomy, House, and Amsterdam are great shows but depicts doctors a certain way and doesn't always give recognition to nurses. Although these shows are wonderful working within a hospital setting for many years I felt that these types of shows were just entertainment rather than shows that show the great nurses I know that are behind the scenes working with doctors. Then there were shows like Nurse Jackie and Hawthorne (which I loved) that showed nurses as strong, lifesaving women and men who did put their patients first no matter the cost or Situation and how some nurses despite their issues within their personal lives would advocate for their patients well. In the 21st century nurses for their patients to fulfill their needs and they work tirelessly to protect the needs of their patients. they were the honored people with highly specialized professions.
They work as a caregiver, counselor, healer, educator, advocate, etc... They involve health and recovery for patients, families, and communities. 100 years ago Florence nightingale explains nursing as the act of utilizing the environment of the patient to assist them in their recovery. As the follower of Florence nightingale, there is a nurse at present they dedicate their life for the patient to heal and recover. nurses and medicine are different. many nurses work and have knowledge equal to doctors. The nursing profession for caring for the patient and also a female-dominated career they work behind the doctors a lot more autonomy when caring for patients. As doctors, they rush with their routine and provide recommendations for the patient treatment. As a nurse we must be strong, lifesaving women to put our patient first in any situation. They think patient life as their life and advocate them to provide solutions and treat their physical issues.
