Answer #1

Job Enrichment - It is a motivational technique used by organizations to increase workers' satisfaction by adding    more responsibilities than what originally applied to the job, creating opportunities for    growth and recognition.

Problems of Blue Collar Production Workers towards Job Enrichment:

  • Uncomfortable with decision Making - When blue collar workers are assigned managerial tasks, they are not comfortable to make serious decisions everyday. These people are not generally empowered by job enrichment but are discouraged by their lack of skills.
  • Priority of Workers - The basic problem with the workers is that they do not really want challenging jobs, as the basic human tendency is to minimize responsibilities. Workers put wages and security above all.
  • Imposing Job Enrichment - Generally, it is the management's decision to impose job enrichment on workers without their consent. It will have a negative impact on employees.
  • Same Challenges for Different Personalities - The top managers apply their own scale of challenges and accomplishments for all workers. Each worker has his/her own personality. So the same challenges may not be appropriate for everyone which may result in resistance from workers in the future.
