Different media have different nutrient composition. Each nutrient is used in a different manner by each microbe. So, each microbe will use different nutrient media differently and therefore give a different colony morphology.

Say, microbe 1 is growing on three different media, media A, B and C. All the media have different nutrient composition. This microbe will therefore, give different morphologies on all the three media. On media A, morphology a, media B morphology b and on media C morphology c.
