Role of Organisational Development in contemporary organizations:
The organisational development plays an integral role in the organisations today , it is a dominant factor that leads the business towards success and affects it in every aspect . In contemporary organizations the complex structures, huge level of operations , intense competition, roles and responsibility and challenge to status quo , need to rapid changes , results in various difficulties and stagnation. Therefore the organisation needs to constantly change its methods , ways of performing jobs, job positions, technology , etc so that it can survive in the market and maintain its position with a significant market coverage.
Organisational development in such organisations which are susceptible to rapid changes and challenges should try to adjust itself to these changes and keep up on the run to succeed.
The decision making plays an important role in contemporary organisations where one wrong move can result in huge losses, thus the development in terms of human resources with more expertise , efficient managers having knack at choosing between the alternatives, technological advancements, supply chain management , advance resource plannings etc can result in better outcomes and accomplishment of desired results.
An organisation with perseverant developments of any sought to improve the operations, methods of production, satisfaction level etc will only make an organisation more empowered.
Improving efficiency , effectiveness , productivity and leading the organisation towards innovation should be the priority of today's organisations, moreover human resources in contemporary organisations are considered as assets and therefore should be provided recognition, boosting their morale through descent pay , fringe benefits and making them stay motivated towards job as they form an important part in achieving desired objective.
The organisational development will obviously and essentially result in incorporating change in every aspect of business through identifying the current methods, processes and ways that are not proving beneficial or efficient to achieve objectives or goals. Devopment by its main idea means addition or improvement to the current pricedures thus improvements can only be possible when the status quo is challenges, new aspects are added , new ideas are generated and new methods are followed.
The organisational development will result in training to the employees, recruitment of efficient staff , changing current organisational structure and changing methods of production. The organisational development will also cha ge how the business approaches problems, new approach to analyses of market and research, justifying the budget formulated which will eventually contribute to efficient utilization of resources and reducing wastages thus making the organisational processes more efficient.
The best example in this regard is the smart phone industry which is susceptible to constant changes and if it will not incorporate the organisational development, it cannot maintain the dominant position and thus will lead the threat to survival. Thus the industry constantly develops the phone characteristics, software , features etc so as to keep the customers satisfied. Changing thus is important for business to maintain sustainable existence.
