Hello,

Virulence factors of Staph aureus -
Capsule
Peptidoglycan
Teichoic acid
Protein A
Toxins like Haemolysin, leucocidin, enterotoxin, TSSt
Enzymes like Coagulase.

Adhesion of Staph aureus -
Staph aureus produce adhesins. These molecules promote non specific and specific physio-chemical interactions between host and bacteria to cause adhesion. Hydrophobic interactions are also involved.

Pathogenesis of Staph aureus -
Bacteria produces localised pyogenic lesions.
Causes - cutaneous infections, deep infections, food poisoning, nosocomial infections, skin exfoliative diseases and toxic shock syndrome.

Mechanism - Staph. aureus produces certain toxins and enzymes which are responsible for symptoms and signs. For example -

Enterotoxin produced by bacteria act on autonomic nervous system and cause food poisoning.

TSST-1 toxin is a superantigen which causes hyper stimulation of T-lymphocytes and causes Toxic shock syndrome.

Similarly, all other infections can also be explained on basis of toxins and enzymes produced by bacteria.

Thank you
Hope I helped
