of solute particles. If a cell is in a hypotonic solution, the extracellular fluid has a les S osmolarity then the inside of

If a plant cell is placed in hypotonic solution, then Water will move inside the cell and this will result in swelling of cell. But if an animal cell is kept in hypotonic solution, then also the cell will swell but if water continues to accumulate inside the cell, then the cell will burst. This is because animal cells do not have cell wall whereas plant cells have. This cell wall protect plant cell from being bursted because it is tough and rigid.

When a cell is immersed in a hypertonic solution, there is a net flow of the solvent out of the cell. When a cellis immersed in a hypertonic solution, the concentration of the solute inside the cell is smaller than the concentration of the solute in the solution.
