Answer #1

Output per hour from a station = Number of machines*60/process time

Station 1 = 2*60/12 = 10 units per hour

Station 2 = 1*60/5 = 12 units per hour

Station 3 = 1*60/12 = 5 units hours

a) Throughput time = Cycle time = Bottleneck station time which is station 3 = 12 min

b) Bottleneck is station 3 with time 12 min per unit

c) If second machine is added in station 3, the output per hour will be 2*5 = 10 units

So, process output rate is 10 units per hour

Weekly capacity = Output per hour*Hours per day*Days per week = 10*8*6 = 480 units

d) If there is no second machine in station 3, output per hour of the process will be output per hour of station 3 which is 5 units

Weekly capacity = 5*8*6 = 240 units
