1. Database , is the combination of some data that is processed and organized in such a way, to obtain a connection or relation between the data and can be used jointly by multiple user
applications.

Database plays an important role in an organization. This is because a good database system would bring rapid progress in the organization. The importance of a database for an organization such as :

  1. Simplify the search and utilization of information in organizations.
  2. With a good database, an organization can monitor the progress of the operation well, so they can take quick and appropriate steps if a problem occurs.
  3. Assisting in organizing the data that is owned by the organization such as employees / members bios of the organization, consumer biodata, list of products, payment of salaries, payment of bills, and others.
  4. Facilitate the members in the data access activities include data acquisition and manipulation of data such as add and delete data through the authority that has been given.
  5. Keeping the organization’s data security, because any data can be protected by provide login and password for each data.
  6. The database can help to determine a better strategy for the advancement of an organization in the future.
  7. Assist marketing activities for the database to collect customer data in a complete and detailed so as to facilitate the marketing activities for an organization or company.
  8. The database can save on operating costs for an organization / company to manage information. With a database of all the information the organization can be well organized so that it can be accessed quickly and easily without spending much money.

2.  Database administrators (DBAs) use specialized software to store and organize data. The role may include capacity planning, installation, configuration, database design, migration, performance monitoring, security, troubleshooting, as well as backup and data recovery.

DA (Data Administrator) and DBA (Database Administrator) both are responsible for managing database for an organization.
They differ from each other in their required skills and responsibilities.

Data Administrator (DA) :

  • "Person in the organization who controls the data of the database refers data administrator."
  • DA determines what data to be stored in database based on requirement of the organization.
  • DA works on such as requirements gathering, analysis, and design phases.
  • DA does not to be a technical person, any kind of knowledge about database technology can be more beneficiary
  • DA is some senior level person in the organization. in short, DA is a business focused person but should understand about the database technology.

Database Administrator (DBA) :

  • "Person in the organization who controls the design and the use of the database refers database administrator."
  • DBA provides necessary technical support for implementing a database.
  • DBA works on such as design, development , testing, and operational phases.
  • DBA is a technical person having knowledge of database technology.
  • DBA does not need to be a business person. in short, DBA is a technically focused person but should understand about the business to administrator the database effectively.

4. Skills desired for a DBA are:-

  • Analytical Skills: DBAs monitor a lot of information and need to be able to think of solutions as problems arise.
  • Communication Skills: DBAs are part of a team, working with other DBAs, data analysts and management and need to be effective communicators.
  • Attention to Detail: Databases are complex, and a minute error can cause huge problems.
  • Logical Thinking: DBAs take code and data and turn it into logical patterns, so that it can be analyzed.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: As problems come up, DBAs must come up with solutions quickly.
