Fly B w+/w+, dp+/dp, e+/e, ey+/ey

Fly C w/w, dp+/dp+, e/e, ey+/ey

Use the product rule and the sum rule to solve the following problems:

a. What is the probability that fly A will produce a gamete with the w allele?

b.What is the probability that fly A will produce a gamete with the dp+ allele?

c.What is the probability that fly A will produce a gamete with the ey allele?

d.What is the probability that fly A will produce a gamete with w,dp,e,ey+?

a. The probability that the fly A will produce a gamete with w allele is 1 since it is homozygous for w the w allele and hence will definitely pass it to its gamete.

b. The probability that the fly A will produce a gamete with dp+ allele is 0.5 as it is heterozygous for dp+ and there is a 50% chance to pass it to its gamete.

c. The probability of passing an ey allele to its gamete is 0 as it doesn't have ey as any of its alleles.

d. The probability of producing a gamete with w,dp,e,ey+ is 0.25 (1*1/2*1/2*1=0.25)
