Answer #1

Solution:

  1. The capacity of server 3 is 40 orders per hour. (1.5min for 1 order hence in 60 minutes 40 orders)
  2. The capacity of Server 1 + Server 2 is 60 orders per hour (Since both servers together process 2 orders in 2 minutes, hence 60 orders in 60 minutes or 1 hour.
  3. Server 3 is the bottleneck.
  4. The capacity of the process is 40 orders per hour (Capacity of the system is the capacity of the bottleneck process)
  5. Cycle time of server 1 + server 2 is 1 minute. (Since servers are in parallel with 2min/order, the cycle time is 2/2 = 1 minutes)
  6. flow time is the time taken by a unit from start to end in the system, which in this case is 3.5 minutes.
