1.Diet is an important part of a living being A healthy and nutritious diet should consists of all nutrients. This is termed to be balanced diet.They can be grouped into six major parts

• Carbohydrates :They form the major parts of a food in providing energy. They provide 9kcal per gram
• Proteins:They are needed for tissue building or body building. They can provide 4 kcal per gram
• Fats:They act as energy reserve ,used when in shortage. They provide 4kcal per gram
• Vitamins :This consists of fat soluble and water soluble vitamins (Vitamin A,D,E,K, Vitamin B complex)
• Minerals :They are micronutrients providing nutrient for body function
• Water:It is a macronutrient acts in fluid balance

To get these all nutrients foods like vegetables, fruits,nuts,cereals, pulses, grains milk and milk products, meat etc., has to be inculcated in the diet.

2.The vital role of nutritional foods and food products in human diet are
