Did Horney agree with Freud’s contention that anatomy is destiny? Why, according to Horney, do women sometimes feel inferior to men

Step-by-Step Solution

Solution 1

Chodorow considered as the Horney to be the first female psychoanalytic person. Horney fully agreed with the Freud’s contention about that the anatomy is destiny that greatly hypothesized that the major personality traits of a person are solely determined by gender roles. However, it is fully considered that it is the males that get attracted towards the anatomy of females.

According to Horney, women often feel more inferior to men. These inferiority complexes of women towards men are considered as a biological inferior factor not a cultural inferior factor.

Horney also suggested that women appeared to be more masculine in nature by narrating the concept of cultural equity. Since, culture is derived from masculine ideas, the only way to achieve power in culture is to become masculine in nature.
