In this project you review the documentation on the dump command using Fedora Linux. The dump command is a backup utility for creating different levels of full and partial backups. There is not room in this chapter to train you on the uses of the dump command, but as an introduction, it is valuable to view the online documentation of the command so that you know the command exists.

To view online documentation about the dump command in Linux:

1. Access the command line, such as by clicking Applications, pointing to System Tools, and clicking Terminal in Fedora Linux with the GNOME desktop.

2. At the command line, type man dump and press Enter.

3. Read the initial description of the dump command (see Figure 7-12).

4. You can move up or down in the documentation by pressing the Page Up or Page Down keys.

5. Notice the information about levels. What level is used to perform a full backup?

6. When you are finished reading, press q to exit back to the command line.

7. Close the terminal window.
