In this project, you use the Backup or Restore Wizard to learn how to back up files and folders in Windows XP. In the last steps, you cancel the backup, in case you do not have enough disk space for performing a complete backup. You need Administrator privileges to perform this activity.

To back up files and folders in Windows XP:

1. Open up the Backup or Restore Wizard by clicking Start, pointing to All Programs, pointing to Accessories, pointing to System Tools, and clicking Backup (see Figure 7-10).

2. Click Next.

3. Ensure Back up files and settings is selected. Click Next.

4. Make sure My documents and settings is selected. Click Next.

5. In the Choose a place to save your backup text box, select C:\Temp\ for practice (you could select other media as available). Also, in the Type a name for this backup text box, enter Backup plus today’s date. Click Next.

6. Review your backup settings and then click Cancel.
