a) Assess for any chest pain and monitor vital signs especially blood pressure and pulse rate
b) Assess for any presence of shortness of breath, dyspnea, tachypnea or crackle sounds while breathing.

c) Watch for any hyperkalemia and correct it as per doctors order
d) Maintain nutrition
e) Check for any skin integrity problems like edema,itching and check for any signs and symptoms of infections.
FBS (Fasting Blood Sugar): If there is an increased blood glucose level in the blood do the following to reduce glucose levels. They are:
a) Immediately lower the glycaemic control by starting an Insulin administration via syringe pump
b) Monitor blood glucose level every half an hour
c) Patient education should be given on how to control blood glucose levels.
d) Advice the patient to engage in mild exercise,diet control and daily administration of insulin as per doctors order.
e) Check for any hyperkalaemia.
