As we know a " polymer " is a chain of even smaller groups called as monomers , so a chain of many monomers is called as a "polymer", or literally it is defined as the repetition of smaller subunits of micromolecules to form a macromolecule _ called as polymer

polymers are prepared by using the process called as polymerization. It is the process in which the monomers are covalently bonded to form a chain or branched polymers.
polymers unlike other compounds have different properties , due to absence of crystal lattice in polymers the polymers have less density when compared other compounds which make them lightweight. This is due to constant spacing volume between monomers and polymers are strong due to high extent of secondary bonding like dipole-dipole and vanderwaals interaction forces.
In order to get a lightweight polymer we have to ensure whether the monomor repeating subunits are placed at constant spacing volume and like that of ; in preperation of lightweight polymers the amino acids sequence are arranged in many different degree of orders, which helps in fabricating the lightweight polymer using different polymerisation techniques performed in laboratories.
