How did Wundt distinguish between psychological and physical causation?
Physical and psychological causality were completely opposite to each other, this thought was proposed by the Wundt. Antecedent conditions form the basis of the prediction of the physical events. Psychological events cannot be predicted with the help of the antecedent conditions. Will power induces the qualitative differences between the physical causation and the psychological causation.
As Wundt has already proposed that will power arranges the thought of the humans into various configurations. He also said that intentions are created willfully. Prior prediction and understanding of the intentions is not possible in the physical causation. Prediction of the psychological causality is impossible. He has explained this with the help of the principle of the heterogony of ends.
As per the principle of the heterogony of ends, the goal directed activity always results in the achievement of the goal. Unexpected events are always there, which directly modifies the motivational pattern of an individual entirely. Physical factors as well as actions behind the psychological event may acquire variety of the physical forms.
