Why was the school of psychology created by Wundt called voluntarism?

Wundt initial goal was to deduce the understanding toward the consciousness and the related experiences. He has also developed the understanding behind the dynamics of the mental laws, which are responsible to govern the consciousness. Wundt called the school of psychology as the voluntarism because it was founded on the choice, will and purpose. It was the first school of psychology.

The concept of the will proposed by the Wundt reflected the attention to the volition as well. He said that will power is the central concept for the study of all the problems associated with the psychology. According to the Wundt, organization of the content present in mind into the higher level thought process with the power of will is referred as the voluntarism.
