The main interactions that occur between ribosomal proteins and rRNAs (ribosomal ribonucleic acid), and ribosomal proteins and between tRNAs (transfer ribonucleic acid), mRNAs (messenger ribonucleic acid), and ribosomal factors include Van der Waal forces, and hydrogen bodings.
Many antibiotics use the fact that bacteria and eukaryotes use different ribosome types for synthesizing proteins. The major difference is associated with ribosomes and their interaction with mRNA. Understanding these interactions and their role in ribosomal functionality will give us a clue to design the best drugs that are capable of inhibiting the ribosomal action by interacting with the molecules.
